R=Tour 1999 . I followed the whole route with a friend. We took a short cut to get to a stage. Grandad and grandson on road waiting. I told them in French it is over there (about 6km away) .... no response except excited flag waving in a completely deserted landscape - Grandson (8 yrs?) waiting for caravan with big eyes - it still haunts me
