Hi

I am a student and I have chosen to do a project on travelling with a bicycle by plane, I am interested to know people's opinions on this, I have created a survey and would love it if people could take a couple of minutes to fill it in.

Thank you very much for your help,

The survey is at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6P6F2GB
Thanks again

Happy touring !!

. What form of luggage do you use for your bicycle?
What form of luggage do you use for your bicycle? Padded bag
    Unpadded bag
    Plastic bag
    Padded box
    Unpadded box
    Plastic bag
    Other (please specify)
    7. Do you find packing your bike efficient in the form of luggage you use for it and with airline regulations?

    Try:
Are the present regulations and methods efficient?
    8. What do you do with your luggage at your destination?
What do you do with your luggage at your destination? Carry it
    Store it at the airport
    Store it somewhere else
    Dispose of it
    Other (please specify)

    Errr....???
If there was anything you could change about the systems in place for travelling with a bicycle by air, what would it be?

    Try
Do you have any suggestions for improvement?

I'm not trying to being rude here, but that's a very poorly worded and pretty useless survey.

Even by the usual standards of surveys, that one is poor

The problem with the internet and anonymous posting is you can't see who is talking - you don't know if the OP is 20, 15, 10 or 5 ...
    if a 5yo asked you those questions you'd slap the teacher/parents ...
if a 10yo asked you those questions you'd help and answer their questions nicely
if a 15yo asked you those questions you'd probably assist them with better worded questions and take an interest in their project
    assuming it's a 20yo you just cry quietly to yourself .... ;)

I assume they mean the packaging rather than luggage.
Someone I know with a sturdy old steel tourer packs the bike (well) in cardboard, flies to their destination with hand luggage, cycles to the other side of the country and then finds more cardboard from local shops to repack and heads home. Not sure I'd do it with my bike but they've had no problems and cycled a lot further than I have.

But yes, pretty poorly worded questions.

I know what he meant but I had images of lycra wearing suicide bombers using panniers... it was a strange picture.

  • Thank you to anyone who filled out my survey, the replies were very useful. If anyone else wishes to fill it in instead of being rude, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
