they're 170mm where as my fox are 160mm will it make much difference?

Can you add an internal spacer to reduce them down to 160mm? I know you can do this on some Marzocchi forks not sure if it applies to all of their forks.0

Just because there's 10mm difference in travel doesn't necessarily mean there's 10mm difference in the A-C measurement. It could be anything from 0-20 mm.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
