Munchies after a late shift commute

My late shift finishes at 23:30. I arrive home at approx. 00:30. As soon as I get in I start eating, normally porridge. About 20 mins later I'm in bed. Just wondering if I should be eating so late and what others do?

Depends how knackered I am and how fast I have ridden.
Just a glass of milk for muscle recovery normally, but I have been known to go overboard on cheese toaties.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

I'm never hungry after a late shift or night shift, but I rarely commute by bike to them.
I like riding at night, and always have the munchies afterwards. I tend to go for a protein bar (ZipVit9 Choc Orange or Clif Choc Mint are both tasty) and a glass of milk. Eating late is not really an issue, unless it gives you indigestion. If it doesn't, then obey your appetite and carry on.0 -
could you eat before you leave? give you fuel for the journey home and then wouldnt have it sitting in your stomach when you go to bed?
there is obviously the danger you may start doing both :-)www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
the other half has recently put together a diet for me that is supposed to prevent me eating shedload when I come home so about half an hour before I ride I have a cereal bar or 30g of pretzels and then when I get back I have 4 ryvita and 50g of low fat houmus.
to my surprise that works for meWhether you're a king or a little street sweeper, sooner or later you'll dance with the reaper.
