My 2006 Scott CR1 Team cost £1500 but it is as fast as any bikes I have recently test ridden on my local (hilly) routes - Colnago M10 (£5k), Colnago CX Zero(£3.5k), Scott Addict(£2.8k), at least according to Strava however it is really about "feel" rather than speed (which is down to you ultimately). I recently tried a Bianchi Infinito CV and have decided to buy one. I don't think I'll be any faster but I will enjoy the ride quality on a long ride in the Yorkshire Dales. It's a bit like my wife likes spending lots of cash on a nice bathroom but really a shower is a shower.
