Ran out of Paraffin to use as chain degreaser and the hardware place was shut, the LBS had a bottle of Muc Off for £16.99  so went to Aldi and bought a 1 liter bottle of caravan cleaner for £2.99. Used it neat and the crud came off the chain with a bit of wiggling with an old tooth brush. It says it is non corrosive and wont affect plastic so might be a good all round bike cleaner when diluted. Its probably the same stuff coloured pink in a fancy bottle you get from a bike shop.

I've often wondered if it would do the job. Might have to get me some

I washed out the wheelie bins with it this morning and they haven't dissolved yet. I am guessing it will be fine on a bike after all caravans are made from aluminium and plastics

I would be too embarrassed to buy anything which might make me look like a caravanner. Maybe I could roll a copy of cottaging weekly around the bottle to hide what it is.

Bin man approaches house to collect bin but cant find it. Knocks on door - " Hi mate, where's ya bin"

    "I've been on holiday...."

    "No, where's ya BIN"

    "...I've been on holiday"

    "NO, where's ya WHEELIE bin?"

    "I've wheelie been on holiday!!"

More's the point, when was the last time a bin man knocked on your door asking where your bin was?

I've read it a few times on various web forums (so it must be true) that Fenwicks bike cleaner is just their caravan cleaner in a different bottle with extra bike tax.
