Anybody know where I can get formula hub spares, not having much luck - need a bolt through axle to replace my quick release rear axle.
Thanks,

Are you sure the hub is compatible? What is the model of hub?0

I wish I knew - can't see any model name/numbers on it at all.
Why would it not be compatible? The axel is removable if that makes any difference? :oops:0 -
Does it have sealed bearings and how is the freehub held on?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Yep sealed bearings. There is a lip on the axel on the drive side and then just has nuts which seat up nice and close to the bearings.0

Probably not. I'm guessing that shoulder on the axle is to fit a bearing. If im right then theres no chance of fitting a bigger axle.
Most hubs can't be converted.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Ah that's annoying - I was looking to run a 10mm bolt through. Guess a new hub is in order.0

You can run a 10mm bolt through but nothing bigger. Don't expect much improvement over the qr though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

My father is an engineer and happens to have a lathe in the garage 8) - any reason why I couldn't just measure this up and get say 20mm extra thread put on each end - maybe try stepping up to 12mm through the centre? If so what's the best material to use - 4130 rod?0

You can have anything you want made.
And as you dad is the engineer and you have the parts he should beable to work it all out."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yeah think I'll do this - hadn't even thought about asking him to look at this but should be easy enough for him.
Any idea on best material?0 -
As you say, 4130. To be on the safe side.0

Stepping it up to 12mm in the center won't increase strength. You're adding material in the wrong place.
Your original axle will have a hot rolled thread, machine cut threads are considerably weaker.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
