Loud clanking noise ?

Hit a fairly big pothole tonight and there was a prominent and unhealthy "clank" noise which seemed to come from the front end of my bike and reverberate through my frame. Any idea what would cause this ? I have some theories but won't share my thoughts until others contribute as I don't want to influence any suggestions.

I had this once and it was caused by the bars moving very slightly inside the stem.0

The clanking was just at the point you hit the the pothole or has it continued?
Could be anything from a dramatic bit of chainslap to a broken frame.0 -

Just on impact with Pothole.0 -
Sound is hard to pinpoint. May have been the chain slapping the chainstay.0

Was it the lawsuit hitting the table as you sue the council for negligence?0
