So I'm looking to get a set of either Slx or xt disk brakes as an upgrade from my juicys.

What's the score with the i spec a and b? Is it you can't use I spec b brakes with older shifters? Why?

I've got 2008 deore shifters so will I need to but I spec A brakes?

Pretty sure it is only 10 speed which is ispec anything. So you're probably out of luck for anything fitting.

You can use the new brakes with old shifters I have some b spec XT brakes and they fit together perfectly with Ye Olde 9speede XT shifters provided you attach them separately. Also have some b spec Deores with SRAM X9 and if anything they fit together even better than the XT/XT combo. I believe the ispec bit relates to the integrated shifter and brake mounts

I spec is where you can mount the shifters to the brake mounts instead of using seperate mounts for brakes and shifters, if you already have 08 Deore shifters, then it really doesn't matter currently, as you will just me replacing the brake levers, and not touching the shifters
