    I have disc brakes on my new bike, the stopping power is just immense. I feel I can push harder throughout the technical areas of the ride because I have that added security that they provide. Going back to my old bike with rim brakes requires a different approach to rides, and I feel nowhere near as in control because their stopping power is feeble in comparison. All comes down to personal preferences of course, but I wouldn't go back to rim brakes now for any future bikes I buy.

    I think people will have to try them before judging. I have tried them and love disc brakes on road bikes. As for them looking wrong well there was a time when people thought clipless pedals looked wrong along with low spoke count wheels. However with time these things have become normal and in 10 years time it will be normal to ride a race bike with disc brakes. There is always resistance to any change. the problem in many races they are banned at present so I can't race one.
