Hello all,

need some advice on the Carrera Titan 650b limited edition 2014. Halfords have it on 'sale' at £299 is this to good to be true?
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499

A lot of browsing these forums + other internet searches suggests perhaps it's not as greater bike worthy of the £599 rrp. Although the posts on here seem to be referring to the 2013 model. So i'm a tad confused.

Also in related news is a 20" frame ok for me standing in at 6ft 2" ?

thanks
Andy.

Halfords random sales pricing strikes again. No it is not and will never be a £600 bike.
    £299 probably closer but I wouldn't.

    Hi Cooldad,

thanks for coming back to me, so is it just the quality of the parts or are there some real issues with it?
Are there alternatives around this price point (say within £50) that would make more sense?

    what about something more like:
    Carrera Vulcan Mountain Bike

    thanks

Much better bet, hydraulic brakes and damper in the forks, worth at least £100 more than the Titan.

However instead of posting random 'what about this one', perhaps tell us your budget and what you want it for and any restrictions and we can make some suggestions, the Vulcan is not the best offering at it's price point.

    Hi Rookie,
    apologies,

my budget is somewhere in the region of £250 - £360
    my height is 6" 2.
I'm looking purely for leisure, mainly offroad, bumpy terrain, woods, trails etc. I'm fairly fit and like to push where i can.

Calibre two two is £369 with the discount card (£5), so for £374 you get a better fork and Deore all round.

This is from Go Outdoors by the way.

Pretty new to the mtb market I think, but this got an excellent review and the spec is great for the money.

Yeah, a mate of mine has one and is very impressed with it. He also got it on some kind of discount weekend for only £324, I don't know exactly how, it won the MBUK budget hardtail award as well.
