I have HUGE unfinished business with this.
    1st year fine
2nd year was going fantastic until I crashed on gravel at high speed, on for a huge PB but finished looking like Robinson Crusoe.
3rd year had a broken back, couldn't ride.
4th year cramped up after 10 miles- turns out I had a nasty virus that ended up laying me out for 3 months and nearly fecked my liver.
This year- not confident enough to enter!

I have to say, it's my favourite event. Next year. Next year...

It's been the first event in my diary for the last two years but I'm way off fitness this year and after last year's effort (probably the only person to go slower than in the atrocious conditions of 2012) I've decided to cry off and go on a coaching course instead that weekend.

It's a great event though and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't ridden it before. I'll be back next year aiming for my double targets of sub-2 hour and best improvement award!

Off-topic - but can I ask what course?

I'll be there but I doubt I'll win the PB prize like last year. Training hasn't been very good due to injury and illness but I wouldn't miss this for the world now. Definitely the best race of the season.

I will be there. Quality event.
  • Yes Markos You are going to have to do a fantastic ride to better last years PB improvement. Glad everybody views the Little Mountain as a special event.

I'm hoping for sub 2hrs on my road bike. I'll be lucky to beat my 2010 time. In 2011 I was flying but it was on a diverted course. Then I crashed anyway heh heh.

At least this year I will have another club member with me. Plans are afoot to get a team together for 2015. Doubt I'll break the magic 2 hr barrier but that is my goal.
  • Would be good to get a team from Norwich

That's a shame. I could have been your tutor for that but I'm running a course elsewhere for BC that weekend.

Back on topic - glad to see NapD, Markos and VamP are up for the Little Mountain again. Also glad that NapD HASN'T posted a picture of his 2011 road rash again!

Time to fill the form in. Despite my inability to go uphill, the LMTT is one of the highlights of my year.

Just hoping I actually make it to the start line this year having not done so for the past 3 though I do admit to wimping out in 2012

As usual, my only target is to finish. If I'm not last (& I have been last but two) then it'll be a bonus.
    There is no secret ingredient...
  • Rich, you are setting the bar too low, but great you are going to give it another go. For everybody else who has not yet entered time is running out, still places left but entries close on the 15th.

More women needed! No that's not a personnal request, we are making a big effort this year along with sponsorship from Islabikes to boost the womens field and to help we are offering equal prize money for the women. So spread the word and get your entry in.
  • Hi Folks,

Still places left, entries close tomorrow, will post the start sheet in a few days time

No other option for me and my gang it's a B&B for me or a campsite for one of them!
  • Sorry about that Alex, will speak to one of the Beacon lads down the field and see if they will swop.

Many thanks John, what a superb event. The marshalling and organisation was spot on. Me and my club mates enjoyed ourselves immensely. Very happy that a VCN member has won the PB competition for a second year in a row. We now have our third rider on a starvation diet ready to challenge next year!

As above - fantastic as always!
The Marshalls did a great job out there.
I'll be vying with a VCN member for that PB comp next year ;)

I was on a course with one of your club mates over the weekend, I understand you have been trying to persuade him to ride the event. Are Beacon paying you commission?

Haha! That would be Owen then? He's a great rider and his wife is a demon climber, been trying to get them to race it for a couple of years now! Domination from the East is not far away. :D
  • Hi guys, thanks for the feedback, it sounds like you all had a good day. Alex, thanks for finding me out at the end I am glad the changed start time worked for you, just sorry I couldn't talk for longer.

If anybody has not yet seen the results you can view them on the Beacon website; http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/open_races/ ... esults.pdf

The full results booklet will be going out sometime in the next week.

See you all next year and let the battle for PB continue.

Second the other comments, my third time riding and won't be the last. Good also to meet NapD after having been informed and entertained by many of his posts.
