Ok, apologies, it's another 'What do I buy?' thread but here goes.

Looking a some quality bib-shorts for the impending warmer weather. Looking to spend around £80 and has to be Wiggle as I have some vouchers. Comfort important for up to 100 mile rides.

Currently looking at:
Sportful Gruppetto
Castelli Presto Due and
Castelli Velocissimo Due

I'm expecting them all to be reasonably similar as I believe Castelli/Sportful share a factory? However wondering if others have any experience with above and whether one would be recommended over the other. Or if something completely different would be recommended?

many thanks

Little more expensive, but worth the extra every time IMHO - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/castelli-free-a ... bib-short/

Sportful own Castelli, so they don't just share a factory.

Depending on your vouchers, I just had Wiggle price match bikeinn on some Sportful Total Comfort at £85.
Everyone is different but IME these are truly excellent shorts that are a big step above your short list (badum tish!)
I find them better than Castelli Free Aero's, which I also have.
You may not be able to use your vouchers with the price match code though.

What about dhb Aeron Pro, they get rave reviews
2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium
2020 Merida Reacto Disc Ltd - black on black
    2015 CAAD8 105 - very green - stripped to turbo bike
    2018 Planet X Exocet 2 - grey

    The departed:

    2017 Cervelo R3 DI2 - sold
    Boardman CX Team - sold
    Cannondale Synapse - broken
    Cube Streamer - stolen
    Boardman Road Comp - stolen

I tried about 3 pairs of Castelli shorts. I really wanted to like them - but they either fit wrong, badly made or were too revealing.

Bought DHB in the end and saved money.

Don't skimp on bib shorts. You spend all your riding time in them. I have a few DHBs and they are not being used at all. Cheaply made and not very comfortable. Personally I don't understand the rav reviews they get from Wiggle.
I have Castillis but I prefer my Assos bib shorts.
I am lately thinking of investing in some Rapha classic ones.
  • I bought a pair of dhbs last year and agree, they are now consigned to turbo use only. Thanks for advice, eventually went for sportful gruppetto. First try out later today.
