Does anyone know the answer please? I have been told that if I change the cassette to a 12-30 and I have standard rings on the front - ie not a compact - I will have to change the rear mech from the short arm I have to a long arm rear mech. Veloce 10 speed. Thanks.

Your drivetrain capacity is (30-12) + (53-39) = 18 + 14 = 32. Officially, short-arm capacity is 27 so you'll likely struggle - try it first? If you stay off the big ring and big sprockets together, it may work.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Thanks. Just going down the shed to swap block over and give it a whirl.
