Hire and Routes in Melbourne, Oz

Have a fairly flying visit later in the year. 6 days in country and will definitely have time to get some miles in. Never been before so know nothing of the area, roads, terrain etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for road bike hire? Google doesn't throw up an awful lot. Also any areas to head for or avoid?
