What new cables

Got some "long distance" stuff again this year on potentially crappy roads, to some extent - and I'm in need of new cables on the event bike. Question is, which ones?
Managed to get hold of a set of gore ride-on for the commuter (which are great but discontinued). What are the alternatives?

What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

I bought a set of Shimano XTR cables for the Kinesis. Uses Shimano SP41 outer which is supposed to be very good, the ends of the XTR have extended rubber boots to keep the muck out. So far they seem very good.0

If you replace them (£3) every 6 months you always get the new gear cable feeling... beautiful. Else, when buying brake cables for my BB7's everything pointed to Jagwire outers as for brake (normally used on gears) are designed not to compress so always feel nice and solid. If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0

I thought this was supposed to be a bad idea?
http://sheldonbrown.com/cables.htmlWarning: Since compressionless housing relies on plastic to hold it together, it is not as strong as conventional spiral housing, and should never be used for brakes! The loads applied to brake cables can easily cause compressionless housing to rupture and burst, causing a complete and sudden loss of brake function.FCN 9 || FCN 50 -

You are correct, using normal gear housing would result in this, however, this is specialist cable for this use... Googalise the fvcker. If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0 -

Had found the brake ones, but wasn't sure whether that was what you meanFCN 9 || FCN 50
