Hi All

I have a Specialised carve 29er and the front wheel bearings have play in them after todays ride, I have stripped it down and know can see I need 2 x 6001 -2rs bearings is the spindle held in with just friction and need tapping out?

Can't see anything holding it in, on the specialised web site it says the spindle is made out of "alloy 7075 axle" so I don't want to just go a head and see if I need to knock it.

Check the manual for the hub but likely just need tapping out, assuming you have removed end caps etc. But use a rubber or plastic mallet NOT a metal hammer. Sometimes they need a fair hefty whack. Good idea to have an axle stand to rest wheel on for 'tapping' it out so you don't damage hub.

Or they just need a little tighten.

Thanks just sorted it, it's a bit like a 15mm thru axle conversion to a QR only the sealed bearings hold the spindle in the wheel, I suppose one good thing is when you tap the spindle it also removes the bearings.
