Cropping Strava Rides

Chaps, not the end of the world but I did a ride today in 3 parts, one on the bike...then in the car (with the timer stopped)...then on the bike.

I want to crop/cut the ride so that I end up with the 2 rides (ideally as separate rides)/activities). Is this possible? I looked at the Strava crop tool and was put off a bit by the fact it says "once you crop you cannot undo".

Thanks

did you record the rides with a gps bike computer or with the strava app on a phone?

If the former, just make a copy the file on your computer load one to strava a crop the start. Then load the second one and crop the end.

Sounds good, thanks for the quick reply (Garmin 500, btw)

You can also export the Strava ride as a GPX from your PC once uploaded. Youe can then crop the first part of the existing ride before importing the recently-exported GPX file to crop to the other end.

Much as the above advice, but this should apply to any method of recording the ride!

mm, not sure I got the order right. I saved the file from the 500 to the PC. Then cropped the ride on Strava so that the important bit (the last third was sorted). All good so far but then tried to manually load the file again and Strava said it was a no-no.

Then I uploaded to Garmin Connect, exported as a tcx...but that file text was immense with no guarantee of success so I decided to write the 1st leg of my journey off (it was only a 10-15 mile leg so happy to ignore it for now and do a manual i/p on Strava).

Note to self: Make sure you reset/save activities properly next times.

Now, don't get me started on the inability to edit Instagram piccies after uploading. I figured I could rotate, etc., after uploading but computer says "no".

I think I will stick to riding my bike.

I think if you rename the file it will then upload a second time alright.

    like 23-03-2014 and 23-03-2014pt2

This is an old thread, but worth refreshing. I also tried to crop half a ride in strava and then reload it to crop the other half. It wont have it either as a sync from Garmin on as a manual upload, even as a renamed file. There must be a time stamp somewhere. (actually there are lots but there must be one specific one.)

    Anymore suggestions?

Never tried it but have a look here at FIT FILE TOOLS https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/top
and the TIME ADJUSTER TOOL within it.

You sir, are a STEELY-EYED MISSILE MAN!
    for the record;
I was able to remove a segment from the middle of a ride (missed my turn and ended up going nowhere for a while). I had already deleted it from Strava. When I loaded it back into Garmin, It didn't automatically sync with Strava. So I had to manually upload it to Strava.
One little wrinkle ...... The first time I tried it, I clicked the button to close up the time line. Garmin was fine with it but not Strava. It drew the missing 10 minutes as a straight line across country (no logic to that.!). I tried again without pressing that option and it came out fine. You wouldn't know anything happened.

That's good to know. Glad it worked OK for you.
