Just bought my first pair of clipless pedals for my Trek fx 7.2, went for the shimano M520 clipless SPD as recommended for my daily commute to work, was unsure what shoes would work with them, any suggestions? Newbie to cycling , been cycling for a month loving it!

A touring shoe would be best, they fit the 2 bolt system, but your feet won't get too hot, they aren't too heavy and the soles are nice and stiff.

The shimano RT0** range are excellent, but I think that Specialized and Bontrager also make such shoes, so whichever shoe fits you best out of those.

I've been using Wiggle's very own DHB M1.0 for my commute for the last two years. Granted, they are MB shoes, but are really comfy, last for ever, have withstood two fairly harsh/wet winters & are still going strong. And they are about £40. I would definitely recommend them.

Go to a shop and try them on.

Don't be tempted to buy your first pair on line.

Or order a few pairs online and send the ones you don't like back...
