Hi. I'm looking to do a road ride from Manchester city centre to Leeds city centre of a weekend. Does anyone know of any routes or site's that would be a good starting point please.

Ideally would like to follow a gpx file or similar.

Cheers

If it were me I would start at Piccadilly and take the A635 to Stalybridge.

Continue along the A635 through Mossley all the way to Wassenden Head reservoir then go a left up to Meltham.

Then the B6108 from Meltham to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield to Leeds will be the A62.

Job done. Or start in Leeds, do it the other way round and end up in a much nicer place.

phil, thanks for that, great help.

there will be a group of us doing a 2 day ride for our places of work and I've been roped into helping with the Manchester to Leeds route. The first part will be Liverpool to Manchester.

You could try Sustrans. I find some of their routes to be a bit daft when you know an area well but this might be a reasonable place to start: http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/route/route-62 . Perhaps someone on here has ridden it and can comment on suitability.
