Hi all,

Looking for a new pair of bibshorts, have to buy them off of Wiggle or Ribble so choice has been limited by that.
Been looking at:

DHB Aeron : http://bit.ly/NuvpIc

Madison Peleton : http://bit.ly/1j76FjN

Endura Coolmax : http://bit.ly/1gQtWnq

Lusso Pro Core 12 : http://bit.ly/1gHofvR

And here's the link to the Ribble bibshort page if there a good pair I haven't listed : http://bit.ly/1gQvtKd

I'm 6ft1 and 75kgs so can't avail of any good deals on smaller sizes etc. Pad comfort is important.
Any personal experience/views would be appreciated.

Thanks you,
Cormac

If you can stretch to another fiver, these. (you'd want large, and they're quite long in the leg compared some if you don't like ones that are half way up your thigh)

I've got Lusso Pro-Gel, DHB Aeron Pro and Gore and the Lusso's are the most comfortable - even after 3 years

I have been very impressed with DHB overall. I'm a total sucker for expensive clothes and do have Rapha, Assos, Castelli etc., but I also have a few bits of DHB gear for training miles etc. and everything has been well made and seems very comfortable and well cut. Really hard to fault.

I have worn a pair of DHB Aeron Pro during a longer ride and they were absolutely comfortable.

I think the Lusso ones you link above won the best in test in a recent Cycling Plus cheap bib-short test they did. Not always a reliable source for reviews but it may help narrow down your choice. I have DHB, Altura and cheapo Sports Direct bibs (Muddy Fox!) and to be fair, at this price point they are all about as good as each other. I would contemplate spending more but as I mostly do shorter duration rides (apart from the odd 100 miler) cheaper bibs do me fine. Cheap pair for now and a fancy pair as a Christmas list item?

Thanks for all the help guys, (and lasses?)

Had a look at the Aeron Race bibs but they're a bit out of my price bracket.
Think I'll go with the Nailini shorts, thanks mfin.

Haha love the that idea, thanks!

If you've not got any yet get the Etxeondo dicolor from merlin.
£45 I think which is a fab price for them.
I have 2 pairs and considering stocking up on them at that price.
Pads about as good as the Assos green pad on my 3/4 (winter and spring variants!)
Braces are dead soft and you don't even notice the leg grippers.
No better bibs for £45 notes.

5-0 to the Rams today :D:D:D:D

I've already ordered the Nalinis :)
However my Dad wants a pair of the Etxeondos now
How do you find the fit? My Dad's a 33 inch waste, which would suggest the 34 shorts, but he has a pair of 36 inch Funkier shorts that fit him spot on?

    Cheers,

What is the sizing like on the Etxeondo ? Normally a large in DHB, Endura and Lusso, managed to fit into a large on Dare2b but leg grippers are uber tight. We looking at an XL in these shorts ? For the cash I bet they are top notch.

My size comparison for Etxeondo is against Altura. I am a large in both of them. Etxeondo is a race fit I'd say, certainly not uncomfortable.

I'm 6ft and about 39-40" chest if that helps.

Hmm similar in size maybe broader, so we reckon a large? Or they a bit tight at that.

Just looking at those Etxeondo dicolor on Merlin, excellent price for some training shorts, I'm 5' 11", 32 inch waist, 37 inch chest, weigh 65kg, so would I be a medium?

Would you say the leg gripper is quite "grippy", ie will keep legwarmers in position? Quite tempted by these shorts but I'm a bit concerned in case they would be summer only shorts (for me anyway!)

I'm 6ft, 33" waist 40" chest and figured I would need XL in Etxeondo bibshorts, but XL is out of stock in the dicolour range.

Does anyone know how the Ator/Press/New Press or Bira confirm which are just slightly more expensive. Not easy to get reviews on the etxeonda range...

I have similar measurements to you and Large Dicolor fit spot on. Press are a similar fit but the leg grippers are not as good as Dicolor.

So I've been using DHB Aeron Race Pro for a while after crashing my Assos bibs and recently I've bought Btwin 900 bibs and the Etxeondo dicolor (at £50) too so I can give some thoughts.

I am 5'7" and 76kg, 32" waist in jeans and 38" chest. I am a size that means medium will always fit, some times on the tight side and sometimes on the loose side but always ok.

Sizing wise DHB and Etxeondo are similar, with the DHBs being a touch smaller. The Btwin are the smallest of the lot, I wouldn't really want them any smaller from both a height and diameter point of view although when riding I found them all comfortable. In fact the biggest issue is the plethora of labels inside the DHBs which need arranging before heading out.

Quality wise I would say the Btwin are the best, they are the most technical with the flattest seams, lightweight but seem durable and generally pretty swanky. The DHB's are good and the Etxeondo are nice too although a few of the seams are not flat lock, I really like the leg grippers though (which don't have silicone grips but stay put just fine).

Pad: All are good but I think the Etxeondo have the plushest/thickest pad, certainly on a par with the Assos I had (S2 insert I think), it is more of a 'nice big bit of padding all over' approach compared to the minimalist strategically positioned padding of the others. The Btwin pad is nice too, triple density and very sleek and minimalist, similar to the DHB but a little more comfortable for me.

I need to buy one more set for the London-Edinburgh Ratrace and my thoughts are split between the Btwin and Etxeondo with me leaning towards the Spanish made ones for the extra padding they seem to give.

BTW, the Btwin 900 bibs/jersey are now on offer at £40 which is a total bargain. I'm going to pop in and buy the top that matches the bibs, will let you know how it is.

Sign up to newsletters and wait until deals appear or go down the LBS and see what they have in the sale rail - I picked up a pair of the coolest Brioches La Boulangere shorts in a small shop en Provence and they were sooooo cool and basically cost nothing.

Otherwise DHB stuff is always good value.

Ok, popped into Decathlon at lunch to look at the jerseys.

The jersey itself is very nice and I would say a bargain at the £39 it is currently discounted to.

Size wise it comes up rather small. I am 5'7", 75kg with a 37" chest and normally I am medium in pretty much everything although sometime have to buy a small. However, today I ended up getting the large, I could get the medium on but it was a little snug so opted for the bigger one which fits nicely.

They are also selling off their white winter long sleeve base layers for £5.99 which will be ideal to go under the jersey (which is a little on the see-through size) for the spring. Quality seems very nice too.
