Joplin 4 - Replaceble valve core?

So, I'm the bloke who is still running an old Crank Bros. dropper post...
I actually quite like it when it's working, but it hasn't been working for a while. I think the problem is that the valve at the base of the post is leaking. When I pump it up correctly it works a treat, but only for a short while before it reverts to its lazy "won't go up on my own" attitude.
It holds me up fine and drops when I ask it too, but will only go up when I manually pull the seat up. This is fine on a flat section, but when riding somewhere like Llandegla where you switch quickly between fast rough descents and nasty little climbs, it is a bit tricky.
Anybody else had and fixed this problem? Can I replace the valve core? Or does it sound like something completely different to you?
Cheers, Paul.
