Taking Look Keo Classics apart

My left hand look keo classic has started grinding so I thought I would take it apart and re grease. Took pedal off and loosened plastic nut with spanner but the pedal axle is not coming out ? I thought it would just slide out but no movement even when I pull hard - am I missing something ? Thanks

    have you turned it the wrong way and stripped the thread?

    No the nut was only hand tight and loosened easily

    can you put the axle in a vice and pull the pedal off it?

    Thanks for the reply - that was going to be my next move, I was expecting the axle to fall out but gave it quite a pull and it still did not fall out.

    Got it apart ! Just had to use a large screw driver and lever the axle out
