Will a 10 speed cassette fit my Shimano M495 9-speed freewheel?
Read somewhere that you can replace 9-speed cassettes with a 10-speed?

Yes, but nothing much else will work.

Surely it will work if I get all the other necessary 10 speed bits, i.e. chain, derailleur, shifters, etc?

Well, yes, of course. The cassette will fit, but not much else will work with that unless you change it, as you list.

Not much point unless most is shagged.

Want to run a narrow wide chainring with a clutch rear mech and apparently the clutch mechs only come in 10 speed flavour, hence changing to 10 speed. Good to know it will work, albeit a bit costly.
