First day of Spring

I don't care what the calendar says, today was the first day of Spring as I was confident enough to leave the house with my 3/4s on. For the first time this year I have exposed my legs (about 4" thereof) to the World while cycling.
I felt so liberated.
(in fact by the time I got to work I had to give myself a couple of minutes to cool down before going for a shower)
Weren't we fighting snow drifts this time last year?
In fact we were 'cos I made my post about me and a mate doing a 106 mile ride into the snow and almost dying on the saddle last St Patrick's Day.

1st time I've ventured out in just an ss jersey (on the commute at least). Brought the fingerless gloves for the ride home. As for 3/4 bibs - pah, I don't own anything longer...*

I've been riding in 3/4 baggies all winter...today I got my brand new bibshorts out (only the 2nd I've ever owned...only ever used at the height of summer before) plus l/s jersey, mitts...and bloody hell it was cold for the first 5 minutes!!!
felt faster though and tonight it will be worth it - 13 degrees!?!?!?! it'll be like riding the sahara!!!!!
my pale white/pink legs look terrible though...need more sun!!!0 -

I'm still in longs and yellow jacket. it's way too hot, but my commute is only about 7.5 miles/35 minutes and I quite like working up a prodigious sweat in the morning before a cool shower. It's like a ride and a sauna in one!0

Was out in the summer gear for the sunday ride. Have even started working on my tan lines.
But down London ways it was a good 20 c0 -
Been out in bib-shorts for the last 2 weeks!0

3/4 roubaix bib shorts all winter for me so far but I've already had a day without my endura jacket (and quickly donned it again the next day). Winter gloves in drawer and I no longer need my buff around my neck/face or roubaix headband
My marker is the date I flip from the 3/4 to summer weight thigh length bib shorts. Giventhat I'm 6'2" that's a lot of mighty white flesh that suddenly goes on display so I'm always conscious of it. The date has not yet arrived...
Yes this time last year I was just arriving back home from a week's MTB holiday in Spain. Went from 25 degrees & sun to zero degrees, snow & biting winds and i was farking freezing. It took me well into April to get back in the swing of the UK weather.FCN = 40 -
It sure is liberating to be out in shorts, done it twice now the past 2 weekends.
Turned up for the club rub 9am Sunday in shorts (top and bottoms), most of the others were in long tights and winter jackets. They boiled, I was perfectly dressed

Been in shorts on my way home, but leg warmers on for way to work, its too cold that early. But my lights were removed this morning. I haven't needed them for about 2 weeks. Fingerless gloves are going to be dug out tonight.0

I thought we were talkin 'bout commutes. If we are talking weekends then that's a different matter. Shorts and short sleeves on my MTB on Sunday and a BBQ in the garden in the afternoon. I even got sunburnt on my neck/back it was that hot.FCN = 40 -
Its grim up north. We've had two weeks of warmth and spring. I had a bbq on Sunday.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0
