Hi

Wonder if anyone can offer a bit of help. I've been given an old 'Townsend' road bike with no tyres on it and I'm struggling to work out what size I should put on it. The rims are marked:

Rigida 20x597 (26 x 1 1/4) 16 93 3

I've found a few tyres sold as 26 x 1 1/4 (like these http://www.mailorderbikes.com/m8b0s303p ... Black_Tyre).

They're 32-597. Is it safe to assume these will fit, or do I need (or can I still get) 20x597?

Many thanks, Paul

    Yes they will fit.

The 20 on the Rigida rim refers to the internal width of the rim, while the 32 on the tyre is the width of the inflated tyre. 20 with 32 is a good enough combination. 597 refers to the rim size and this has to match the tyre size, which it does, so all clear....
