Hi

I'm looking for a new bike that is suitable for commuting to and from work, carrying the weeks shopping and have space for attaching a child seat or trailer at a later date I would also like something lightweight as I have to carry it up and down stairs. I'm 5ft 7 female so what size frame would I need? I can ride 'mens' bikes but would like a stepthrough if possible.

I would also consider a single speed or tourer as well I'm still in the process of saving up and I don't feel confident enough to buy second hand. I was considering trek or ridgeback but can't find any reviews online for the makes I was looking for.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

What sort of budget do you have?

I really like my Ridgeback Speed, which does everything that you suggest. I've also been using to tow Trailgators for nine years, and the seatpost is still straight. There is a womens step.tbrough available. RRP is £330. Anything cheaper will be secomd hand, or a Halfords own brand. Plenty of bargains online, but I'm guessing you'll want to try before you buy.
