Blair and Brown were economically neo-liberal. What specifically, and I mean facts not the blather above, did they institute that was left wing?
Your tedious drivel and personal attacks don't merit a considered reply.0 -

Who should we vote for?0 -

Still it wasn't a personal attack, more a considered observation resulting from your unsubstantiated claims against the previous government.0 -
I hear Marx drank red bush. Because proper tea is theft.0

Doesn't matter - the government gets in :?0 -
back on topic
anyone hear Tony Benn reading his diaries on R4 this morning - the interview with Ali G?
Brilliant hearing him explain Thatcher was not a communist and not a socialist to Ali. And very graceful his entry after he saw the TV program. Man has gone up in my estimation, a politician who saw the funny side of being the joke.0 -

If you are well off, you would be stupid to vote Labour. If you are less well off, you would be stupid to vote Tory.
I guess this is your bottom line pinarello. Despite protestations to the contrary, for you it really just comes down to money. So much for your higher socialist ideals. Sadly, such hypocrisy is commonplace.
Some of us vote our consciences, not just our vested self interests. No man is an island.
The less well off rarely vote Tory and the better off rarely vote Labour.
In bold: So incorrect it's laughable.
You have failed for the 2nd time to address the issues of Bureaucracy under a neo-liberalist govt (or maybe this concept is far too difficult for you to comprehend), you have not tried to form an argument against the social problems brought about by Thatcher and Reagan and their individualist ideology, you probably will not read The Spirit Level because you think it's a loony left publication when in fact it is not.
If you are so entrenched in your opinion and not willing to consider any other argument but your own, why bother?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

What she said was:
"There is no such thing as society. There is living tapestry of men and women and people and the beauty of that tapestry and the quality of our lives will depend upon how much each of us is prepared to take responsibility for ourselves and each of us prepared to turn round and help by our own efforts those who are unfortunate."
She also said:
"They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour."
Thoughtful, but not how things worked out in her time or since, neither by her supporters, nor by those, or maybe especially not by those, who confuse state with society. Certainly not the soundbite everyone likes to quote, maybe because they don't like having the obligations inherent in the full text.0 -

I have never understood why they had to pass so many pieces of legislation to achieve small government. :?0
