I've just done build and have used some copper grease stuff on the pedals and some of the other bolts (and the bb threads) in the hope that this ill prevent seizing. The brake mounts were pre painted with some anti seize stuff and annoying microscopic rubber washers. I greased the seat post liberally. Mine is a steel frame and a friend - who is not notably a nobel laureate in chemistry said that the copper stuff would inhibit rusting.

Have I done anything wrong?

Copper grease helps stop threads seizing. It's good practice to use it on most bolts other than safety critical bolts which need thread lock compound.

^this, it's great stuff, most useful on car wheel nuts too.
