Planet X XLS Sizing

Hi All
I'm interested in getting hold of one of these CC bikes from Planet X, primarily to use for commuting. Being my first road bike, I'm mildly confused by the sizing. Having tried both a 54cm Boardman and 52cm Specialized Tricross I found by 'jewels' a little to close to the top tube for comfort when standing over these bikes so on paper the 51cm Planet X frame seems the ticket but I'm right on the edge of their sizing guide being 5' 8". Do you think the small frame will be OK for me?
My leg inseam is 78cm if that helps so I'm basically longer in the torso
