Hi I have a carrera subway 2 mtb that i think both cassette and middle chainring need replacing.
Can i only change the middle one? And how can i pick one that is compatible?
Same for the cassette can i buy a cassette removal tool and the cassette and easily replace it myself?
thnx in advance

You need to get a ring that is for the right chain size (8, 9 or 10 speed) and has the same bolt pattern as your existing ring.fonsde wrote:Same for the cassette can i buy a cassette removal tool and the cassette and easily replace it myself?
And a chain whip (holds the cassette in place while undoing the lockring) like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/x-to ... -prod10184
You also need a big wrench to turn the lockring remover, you might already have a big adjustable which will do the job fine.
If you are changing chainring and cassette you also need to replace your chaing, otherwise a worn chain will jump very badly.XC: Giant Anthem X

I should add, depending on what level of chainset you are running, you might find it to be more cost effective to buy a complete chainset than individual rings. I bought some rings recently and even reduced they were about £20 - £25 each.
You can probably get an 8 speed chainset for about £30 on the web (chain reaction etc.).XC: Giant Anthem X

Looks like you use cogs 3, 4, 5 and 6 as well as the middle ring mostly!0

I'd get it from Chain Reaction for £7.99: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod68154
You can then choose whatever size you fancy.XC: Giant Anthem X

Be compatible with WHAT? You haven't told us what you have.....
Just file the tabs and fit, common issue with Truvativ cranksets.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
