Cwmcarn or Bike Park Wales?

My freeride bike is all sorted and fixed so I'm after heading off to one of the centres in the title tomorrow for my day off. It will be my first time at either of them. I've not ridden at any dedicated bike parks for over 5years and to be honest calling me a fit athlete is a huge exaggeration lol, I really have to get fit and get back into shape but more than anything I need to build my confidence up.

I'm not after paying for uplift, so really I'm after the centre that has the easiest cycle to the top if I'm honest, I don't want to have a heart attack before I start my day  If it means a hard cycle up to be a great run down it doesn't bother me. I like all sorts of riding but especially sections with jumps, berms and technical parts, but not too hardcore for my first time out on a park in 5years.

Until I get back into biking properly I'll be after jumps where it gives you a bit of leeway in case you mess up. Like decent sized tabletops on a red run for example.

If anyone is heading to either or tomorrow and fancy showing me about send me a PM :D
Cheers

Bike park Wales has the easiest climb. You can also do the climb from half way as all the descents cross a fireroad.

    So bpw :)
  • Cheers. I agree after hearing that. I'm not after something too hard going for my first proper time out in 5years.

If the climb bothers you, stop being tight and pay for an uplift  It's so much more fun and worth every penny - IMO.

  • I went yesterday and managed to get 3 runs in with cycling up to the top. Next time I will take some pennies for uplift lol

Well OK about 2,600 pennies :) . But once the clocks go forward you should be able to get 12 runs in on a day.

Bike Park Wales is loads better than Cwmcarn for uplift days. The uplift isn't perfect but the trails are excellent and theres a good choice of trails rather than the one at Cwmcarn.
Theres a lot of braking bumps at BPW, a lot of them are in really strange places as well.

You can argue that Cwmcarn has 2 runs - or maybe one and a half, but it's a good 'un and it also holds up very well in the wet and the new DH track will make it even better once the uplift is sorted on that in June. BPW obviously has more runs to choose from and 'something for everyone'.

I like both and a'm doing a 'double header' - Cwm one day and BPW the next - in a few weeks time :)
