Hi,

I have tried to convince my girlfriend to get a road bike, but she just doesn't like the drops. So, i would like to get her a fast hybrid that will be very similar to a road bike but with flat bars.

Any suggestions? Also, I'm going to go second hand.

she is 5ft9 so would suit a mens bike

    Hello Tom,unless she has back issues or an arm/shoulder issue that causes pain in the drops, then she may well be better just acclimatising. It does feel unnatural for a while, but I now spend almost all my time on the drops. I bought a hybrid, and road bikes, and the cheap hybrid was the most expensive ever on miles cycled. I was talking to a friend at the weekend who said she changed to a road bike as she was fed up being dropped by her partner (or rather having to work so much harder for the same effect)
