Hi All

Quick question to wind up some confusion in my mind.

I am building up a bike for my son and it is being fitted with a Sora chain set. The frame it is being fitted to is a guess frame from rock and roll bikes.

Being a Sunday afternoon and unable to contact anyone. What bottom bracket do I need?

The chain set is stamped as a Sora FC3450 and a quick look around the net leads me to believe It should be fitted with a shimano hollowtech 105 5700 bottom bracket. Is this right, as I have also read that it would accept a Tiagra 4600 BB?

I am just curious to know which one it is today, before I call into LBS tomorrow, and also curious to know what is the difference.

Thanks.

Andy

I think any Hollowtech II BB will be ok. Shimano cranks are standard.

    ^^^this

op - note that hollowtech ii is *not* the same as hollowtech, either of the bb models you mention will be fine, both are hollowtech ii

105 is the next family 'up' from tiagra in shimano's range, in practice it won't make a difference, just get whichever bb is cheaper

chain reaction is selling the 5700 bb for 9.99 at the moment...
