Seat posts on Ti bike

My Ti Cx bike, which is my road bike came with a 31.9 mm alloy seat pin. I swapped it for a 27.2 + shim carbon one which is nicer to ride. Time to buy one that belongs to the bike , not borrowed. Will I find that a 31.9 carbon is significantly harsher than a 27.2? Just seems less "sound" to use the shim if I don't need to.
Oh yeah and I am not spending 200 quid on a Ti seat pin.
Your observations please.

If there is any truth in carbon seatposts being more comfy (not convinced myself) then a 27.2 must be better than a 31.9 as it could flex more.
However a seatpost is a very stiff tube made from a very stiff material so how comfy can it be ?

I've got a Burls layback one to match my frame - works just fine. £125 rather than £200 - so not sure how that compares to ebay. Torus is the same post

Yeah, Van Nic ones are £125... unless the OP meant by £200 that any generally expensive post is a no no.

I'm with you on this. I mean, really, when did seatposts start to become "comfy"? Who believes this sort of garbage?
