Hi people been looking thru forum and internet but can't find a proper answer so hear goes

I have a Scott genius 720 I have been doing a lot of road miles so I have found a set of wheels so
I can Change from road tyres and back to mtb when needed but
They are 15mm thru axle at front and 12mm thru axle at rear I know the fronts ok the rear on mine is 5mm thru axle so how do I change The 12mm to 5mm thru axle

All I find is all the sizes etc to q/r I'm not q/r

Cheers John

Depends entirely on what the hub is. It might change, it might not.

No such thing as 5mm through axle.

Need to know more about the hubs on the new wheels.

if the hubs are cup and cone you've got no chance. What make of hubs are they
falling off doesn't hurt....its the landing that hurts

Do you mean qr rear? The skewer is about 5mm but thats not the axle.

Not a hope in hell of getting them to fit.

The rear is too wide for a start.

Nah - if he's adamant he's got a 5mm "axle" and it's not QR, then I reckon he's got a normal 10mm QR axle with a bolt-up skewer (you know, one of those "anti theft" jobbies) instead of QR.
  • Here's a pic if that helps all I know is this 5mm screws in like the front

from what I can tell with the NP wheels, bot the front and rear are hollow axles with popoush in adpaters to convert front to 20 mm, 15 mm thru axles (maybe 12 mm too) and 9 mm q/r; rear thry axle and 10 mm q/r.

I can't work out what the photo is showing - I am expecting an open ended drop out - but it looks like a q/r skewer.
