A bit of a strange question.
I've bought a planet x rear hub https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/HUOOLFMK2 ... ck-hub-mk2 and rebuilt the wheel. At the same time I bought a new shimano 16t freewheel.
So far so good.
Wheel is nice and true.

However, having fitted the freewheel, the inner "step" catches on the outside of the bearing seal / cone, and acts to tighten the bearings, seizing up the wheel.
I guess a simple solution would be a spacer sitting between hub and freewheel (ie next to the spokes), stopping the freewheel screwing itself on quite so far against the bearing cone.
I've never come across this before though! Anyone else? Any suggestions of a suitable spacer or source? On hte previous wheel I never had this problem

Cheers

Are you using a Shimano MX30 freewheel? Shimano freewheels aren't stepped. Not had any problem like that myself

A freewheel spacer ? Best buy a couple to make the postage charge more reasonable.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Thanks. Anywhere in Brizzle stock this kind of thing? I'm working down there for the next week

Try your LBS's spares box for a bottom bracket lockring, the olde wordle type cup and axle BB as it's the same thread though will be a little thicker than the spacer above. Another option, if you're handy with a file, is a cassette sprocket spacer. If you file the 'teeth' off a spacer it will slide over the freewheel thread on a hub.

Thanks. Not sure I have the appetite for filing down a spacer - I'm sure I have plenty in the garage .
    somewhere.
I didn't want to stick on a thick spacer as I might end up with the freewheel catching the frame!

    Thanks again
