Giant Contact Dropper problem

Morning All,
After some help with a Giant dropper post. My friend has one and the valve has somehow stuck open so won't lock in any position. The problem was not the cable or lever but further inside the post. It is relatively new and has been replaced under warranty by Giant.
Anyhow, I have been offered the old one to see if it can be stripped and repaired. Has anyone come across this and could it be fixed? Can the individual parts be purchased?

AFAIK it uses a sealed cartridge, you can unscrew the bottom and dismantle it up to a point though.

That said, had a pop at servicing mine and the bottom won't unscrew, just snapped the nose off a pair of pliers trying.0
