I wanna build up a 26" wheels bike for bombing about on, riding trail centres, jumping and just being a hooligan on.
Have most parts including a 135mm travel fox fork but i'm not sure about the frame.
Looking at the
genesis alpitude and ragley blue pig but what else is there?
Doesn't have to be super strong as I'm quite light on kit but does need to be cheap or at least readily available second hand

Santa Cruz Chameleon or Cotic BFe would be my top choices. Both are common used.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

One bike springs to mind immediately. On one 456, there has been quite a few versions and they can be picked up for around 100 quid second hand on eBay. I recently dropped the travel on mine from 150mm to 130mm and it's improved it. Climbs better and generally feels more nimble. It's also quite a comfortable frame, a friend of mine had a blue pig and I couldn't believe how stiff it was bordering on harsh. He swapped it for a Cotic soul and he loves that bike, if you can find a Cotic soul or bfe second hand and in good condition seriously consider it.0

I'd second the One one or the Ragley.0

never liked the 456, not sure why but it just doesn't do it for me. probably gonna go for the blue pig, thanks for your ideas0

Nice bike, but be aware the sizing's a bit odd. My mate's got an XL, and the top tube is the same length as the one on my medium Hardrock.0 -
Another vote for a Cotic BFe - awesome frame 8)"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

The carbon 456, Cove Stiffee: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cove-Stiffee- ... 1242118877 or this looks interesting: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/comm ... prod113612 - I think Commencals handle really nicely.
My last couple of bikes were steel but I'm turning back to alu myslef, a bit lighter & I prefer the feel. I think the comfort associated with steel bikes is often overated although it does vary - tyre choice & pressure is more important IMO.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -

Have owned and tried a fair few hardtails and the BFe I have now is definitely the best I've ridden, MK1 Evil Sovereign aside.0

The commencal looks great. Cheap too0

Yeah, that would be my choice if you want long travel. I used to have the Meta 55 full suspension and it was a brilliant ride - the geometry was spot on. Theres also a steel version of this frame & you can buy direct if you like: http://www.commencal-store.co.uk/PBSCCa ... ID=2114109 I'd go for the alu though.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
