Campag cable compatability between 9 and 11spd?

Hi all,
I recently ordered some 'old school' cables for my 9 speed campag set up. The well-known internet retailer I got them from said they had sold out and sent me the new style ones for ultrashift levers. They claimed in an email that these will work with my 9 spd shifters, yet it says on their own website that they don't! Anyone know what the score is - will these work or should I send them back?
Thanks

I don't know, but if I needed to know I'd contact this place:

They are the UK Campag service centre.0 -
As long as the nipples are the same, they'll work. I certainly used "10sp" cables on a 9sp set-up. I also used Gore cables, and Jagwire and Goodrich.0

My understanding - and I haven't actually tried this - is that the only difference between the two sets is the diameter of the gear outers. The new ultrashift cables have gear outers that are 4.1mm - the older ergopower cables have 4.5mm cables.
Also - the ultrashift levers do NOT require a metal ferule when installing the gear outers into them (whereas the older ergopower levers did).
So, to make the new ultrashift levers fit with the old ergopower levers, you just need to use metal ferules and that should be it....0 -
Hi all
g00se is correct - the UltraShift cables are completely compatible with older Campagnolo systems and will work fine, provided a metal (do not use plastic) ferrule is used at the lever and of course at the other termination points of the outer cable.
Avoid the use of in-line adjusters (unless they are the newly-available Campag ones which are designed to take the new outers and to add only very minimal friction to the cable run).

Campag inlines? I'm building a bike on a frame with internal cabling and no bosses but haven't got the inline adjusters yet. Are they available yet?0
