Hi,

I recently ordered a set of wheels from 4thebike.de

Does anyone have any experience with this company?

I placed the order over a week ago, received confirmation of the order and have since heard nothing. I am used to the usual CRC and Wiggle email contact where it tells you pretty much who has touched your package and why until it appears at your door. I have emailed them twice this morning as it is now 6 working days but heard nothing back so far.

Any info would be great!

I bought some wheels last year, they took over a week to arrive and I never received a confirmation when the order went through. I had to check my credit card to make sure that the payment went through before I was going email but then they turned up the next day.
  • I ordered a set of Ksyrium's from them on a Sunday, tracking number came through on the Monday/tuesday and had them delivered on the thursday! Good service too from Fredericke!
  • Likewise, ordered a set of Elites and they arrived a few days later. Couldn't be happier with the service and price.

I've been waiting 2 weeks for some ultegra and zonda wheels, had confirmation and money left my account on 15 May, tried to contact them a couple of times, nothing. Bit of a worry!

Have you bought from them before? I've only ever heard positive feedback regarding them.

I had something similar last December - they took the money but the wheels were out of stock, but they didn't inform me until I pestered them a bit. Luckily I was in no rush for the wheels, and they did eventually arrive. Check the website again to see what the stock situation is.

I ordered a set of Ritchey handlebars from them a month or so back, and as they were in stock they got them to me in less than a week. They have great prices, but their communication leaves a little to be desired. I'd still use them again in a heartbeat though.

I think thats the difference maybe when you live in the same country that you are ordering from. I hardly get any confirmation emails from wiggle when I am buying from the Netherlands. This time round I got a tracking number, but I think thats because it was a more expensive shipment. Smaller shipments I usually get nothing from them.

Anyone know which courier they use, been waiting a few days since dispatch now and have a tracking number but not courier name, tried the obvious ones but no luck so far

Unfortunately not seen the order yet, sent more ignored emails, this lot are a shower of sh**.

Being as I can't communicate with them I'll have to open a dispute with my card company.

It was cheap, looks like as always that was for a reason :(

I don't know what wheels the OP bought from 4thebike but perhaps they should have done what I did a while ago. I wanted a pair of Fulcrum Racing 5 LGs (the latest model) which, at the time, were about £190 from Wiggle but only £150 from another Germany-based site, Bike Discount. Wiggle price-matched which meant that I got their usual fairly seamless service at what I considered a bargain price. As I say, I don't know what you bought but I just had a look at 4thebike and their price for my Fulcrums was €10 more than Bike Discount (and thus Wiggle after the price match).

Emailed them to cancel order and request refund. Reported to VISA too.

    Still no communication!

Wheels turned up over the weekend with Ultegra groupset and mudguards still outstanding, still heard nothing about what's going on.

Unbelievable fiasco, into the 5th week now

You know, 2 emails in one morning is a bit excessive. They wouldn't even have had time to pick up the first one!

Also, speaking from experience from only just this week, don't necessarily blame the company. I've had huge problems with a courier delivering a bike frame, and the service has been horrible all around. Naturally, he thought I was the problem as the tracking number I had didn't work, and it didn't show up at all during the first week (booked for next day).

Then all of a sudden it got "collected" (8 days after actually being collected) and delivered within a day. Tracking info went live and the company had manipulated it to look like it had only been collected so they didn't have to offer a refund as they kept saying I changed the date, but luckily, the info they put together made absolutely no sense as it was scanned in in the morning in the delivery depot it should be at one of the days, but was collected from my house and scanned then at 3pm in the afternoon the same day.

Still fighting the battle of getting a refund, but I think i'm just going to reverse the charges.

My point- often the courier is the hiccup, not the company!

They don't respond to emails anyway, don't even pick up the telephone.

Bit of a worry given the amount of money spent up front with them.

It's a very bad sign not to have any form of communication combined with lack of supply having had payment for so long, I'd say they are struggling financially with suppliers maybe not releasing goods?

Getting properly worried about this now, answer phone on the telephone, website working intermittently and no response to emails yet.

Got an Ultegra groupset and some mudguards still outstanding getting on for £500 worth :(

Hope the card company help out.

Unfortunately the saga continues, excuses given regarding and employee off sick that had all the paperwork that I decided to give them a chance to sort it out but no action after a week.

My advice would be to avoid this supplier because when things do go wrong it's very difficult to sort out. My view is that every company has things go wrong, mine included but it's how you deal with it and resolve issues that really counts.

Finally received the groupset yesterday, 2 months from order!

Had to cancel the crud mudguards, they were struggling to get them and I've been refunded.

Thank God that's over, never again!
