Replacing Shimano 4500 rear mech
Hi All,
Apologies if this has been asked before. I'm looking for a replacement rear mech for my winter bike (Shimano Tiagra 4500 9 spd) and the 4500 rear mechs are very hard to come by.
The new 4600 mechs are 10 speed, but given the cable pull is controlled by the shifters, not the mech, is there any reason a 4600 mech won't work with the 9 spd shifters, chain and cassette? I know I could downgrade to a Sora mech to get 9 spd but I'd rather not if I can help it.
Cheers in advance.

You'll be fine. Mind though, the new 9 speed Sora will pretty much be the old 9 speed Tiagra anyway.0

The only difference between the old Tiagra and the new Sora is the name on the side of the mech so in this case you really are "paying for the name"0
