If you like riding sportives but fancy a change of scenery and would like to be a little more adventurous, here are two great Sportives in Asturias, Northern Spain which I would highly recommend.
The first is the Clasica Lagos de Covadonga, which, not suprisingly finishes at the top of the famous Lagos de Covadonga. It's not the easiest sportive as there are a couple of tough climbs before you even get to the foot of Los Lagos but if you're capable of doing it I assure you it will be an experience to remember. It's a big sportive with 4000 participants so if you are thinking about taking part (June 14th) you should sign up now via their website, which you will find listed on the blog address below.

The second sportive is actually run by my club (www.Nava2000.com) and is called the Clasica Puertos Esmeralda (September 21st). Again in Asturias, this is a great sportive set in the cider region of Asturias. It starts in Nava and then heads to the coast before returning back over the hills. It's 120km long and has two quite tough hills but is a lot more doable than Los Lagos. There are usually between 400 and 500 participants and is a very friendly and fun event, with great scenery. For about 40€ you get a trophy, two free food stops during the ride with as much cake as you can eat and a buffet lunch at the finish. It really is a great event and a sportive to remember. If you would like to take part drop me a line on the email address on this blog site http://bikeasturias.wordpress.com and I can give you more info or get you signed up.
