Monarch rear shock loosing air

Hi hive mind,

I have a Rockshox monarch r shock which has started loosing quite a lit of air. About 50 psi every 15 minutes. I'm thinking of sending it off for a service. Is this likely to be successful in fixing it? I've heard horror stories about monarchs loosing air all over the place. As the service is around £90 would I be better off looking for a second hand Fox float rp2 or the like?

Thanks

How old is it? How are you measuring the air loss?

How do you know it is always 50psi every 15 mins?

    What happens in the morning?

    Does your sag change?

  • Hi guys, it doesn't seem to loose air when I'm not riding it. I can set it and return later in the week and the sag will be the same. I came at the 50 psi figure by pressuring it to 210 then riding and pumping it up again 15 mins later it had dropped to about 140. Allowing a bit for filling the pump tube. The sag is definitely increasing as my feet are almost scraping the ground. It's about 2 and a half years old, with fairly light use.

if you buy a second hand shock it'll probably need servicing.

I'd just suck it up and have the thing serviced.
