Bit of an odd one

It's not a good bike, but he likes it, my son has this

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=875373&categoryId=165607&langId=-1

And whilst it's a crappy bike, he is still too short for a 20inch MTB as I took him to the LBS today, only to see his disappointed face when he was too short.

Anyway, my question is, how can I go about putting a smaller chainring on it, is there a way? As it's not ideal gearing as the chainring is huge!!

Thanks in advance

Anything is possible but you have to provide some info as that like gives nothing.

Might be possible to put a bigger cog on the back.

Pics of what is on it.
What you can see that might allow things to be removed.

At a total guess it is a one piece BMX type crankset so yes you can do whatever you want.

Reading Parktools is always a good idea as it covers just about every version of everything that can be put on a bike so you can ID what you have and then proceed with the changes.

As to the link. It give a 2" picture and some words but no specs and nothing to look at.

So to use a phrase that done of the oldies of the forum might get.

I may be wrong, but it looks like you can just change the front chainring.. Provided it's compatible with the chain

Oh hang on.. Are those screws for the bash guard?
I can't tell in the photo
If they are then I have no idea if/how you can change the chainring

You can change the freewheel or you can change the ring on the front.

Read Parktools about one piece cranks.
