Been riding an own brand CX for a while and decided i 'need' a dedicated road bike. Been doing all the online research I can, working through the minefield of groupsets, frame geometry, aluminium/carbon and of course the reality that there are no right answers for everyone - different bikes suit different people - BUT I would really welcome some advice.
I am not planning to race, however I want a ride position that is a little more aggressive than the Specialized offerings, or Cannondale Synapse. I'll be commuting (only 10m) and then balance of 40/50/60 mile weekend rides, and then century rides. Live in a hilly area and like to push myself! Just had a test ride on CAAD 8 105 2014 model, seems a lovely bit of kit, though for similar money there is the Eddy Merckx EMX-1 again 105 grouspet, 2013 model. Offers carbon fibre and seems to have a similar ride position (from what read - not tested) to CAAD, as in not too upright.
There is CAAD 10, read a lot about how good the frame is, that is another £400. Many reviewers say it is a great frame, but now more competitors offers as good frames for the price - but none of the reviewers say who......

So my thinking, could go with CAAD8 or EMX-1 and spend £400 on new wheels, or CAAD10 as is? Sitting on max budget of £1,500.
Really appreciate any opinions people have on any of these bikes, or others in this price range that I should look at - currently a little blown away by all the options!

Only one left - and it's a 58 cm so if the size fits, it's a good option - full Ultegra and a good frame.

Or a 56 cm F5

I have a 2012 emx-1 with ultegra, love it. The frame is really nicely detailed and stiff
Have had a fit at wyndy milla and they said the geometry was virtually spot on for me, so have always been comfortable on it. Have tried a trek Madone and that is less racy in feel, not sure on the cannondale.
Try them and see what you prefer0 -
I have a CAAD10. I also noticed that Cannondale seems to price its bikes cheaper in Euros than it does in pounds.
When I was looking, I found a 2014 CAAD10 3 Ultegra for less than a CAAD10 5 105 from the UK - about £1449. My LBS then got within €50 price matching. (Biker-boarder.de, plenty of people have used them on here)
The pound to Euro exchange rate is better now too so I'd get the better bike online.
I had to avoid blowing the budget on a Di2 Black Edition...0
