Avid Elixir Brake Bleed Problem

Hi All,
I have a problem bleeding my Avid brakes. They were working fine apart from getting a bit spongy and are a couple of years old now so I thought I would give them a bleed. The front bled up fine but the rear is being a pain. I have done it four times now and goes fine until I get to sucking the bubbles out of the lever. It just seams to keep sucking air through and sounds like it is sucking it in through the lever.
Is it a case of a new lever even though it was working originally or have I missed tightening some thing up?
Has any body else had the same problem?

could be you not fitting it correcly. it could be you using too much force pulling air through a seal or they could be in need of a service."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I think it is fitting ok as I have tried it four times and the front one bled straight away so I think I am doing it right. I did notice some wet under the adjuster screw but it was fine before.
Are they serviceable parts or is it a new lever?0
