Mondeos are already cheap as chips. Mine was an absolute steal.

My dad's Titanium X was 18 months old, with about 15k miles on and he bought it for about 14 grand less than it's new price. The original owner must've been crying, with depreciation like that.

Mazda 6 is a great option if you can't quite bring yourself to become a Mondeo owner.

(FWIW, I have a scabby 2.2 Mondeo Ghia X, it is a fantastic mtb car- boot so big you can park a mondeo in it, engine that'll with a remap will either do 60mpg or rip holes in the tarmac. Oh and cheap enough that I don't mind such minor details like accidentally getting it stuck in a river. 115000 miles and no major work done, sure the clutch or dmf'll shit the bed some day but that's fine, it's more than earned it- you can get a lot of mondeo for your money after all so just discount it against the for sale price)

Is that all? My first Primera had 200,000 miles on when I sold it, and only ever had consumables. After I bought it at 4 years old and 130k miles (it had been my dad's company car) it didn't even get serviced for the next 70k miles - I think I changed the oil twice and air filter and plugs once, and caned it mecilessly all the time. Bombproof bargain motoring (and really nice to drive too) - camchains are great.

Yah, not saying that's huge mileage, just that DMFs aren't as delicate as folks believe. This one's taking an extra 50 horse and about 320lb/ft through it and it doesn't fuss. Everything on my Focus apart from the DMF broke

My dad's got a Vectra diesel remapped to 190bhp and silly amounts of torque that still does 50+ mpg. Shame Vectras are so godawful to drive, lol. Is yours on its original clutch at 115k?

This. For a mere £2k, you could have one many would deem a 'soon-to-be classic' old Vauxhall Astra.

As far as I know, no replacement in the service history but you never know. No traction control though so it does reduce stress on the clutch by spinning the wheels as often as it can.

You're doing well there then, if the anecdotes are to be believed. My old mate's Transit at work (BT) was on about it's seventh clutch, last I heard, but that is a bit heavier.
