TREK Domane 6.9 - Project 1 custom build.

New 2014 build after 5 months off the bike. Test rode one last autumn. Loved it. Ordered a Project One frame from TREK USA - Waterloo; Wisconsin (population 3333) which took 60 days. Had Mud-dock in Bristol build it up for me.
Domane 6.9 Project One in Radioactive Orange, which is seriously bright coupled with the two tone text. Di2 9070 11 speed with Mavic RSYS clinchers. Rides like the mooted dream race bike but with a plushness I have not experienced since my Dogma in 2010. Just hard to convey really.
The finish is stunning and kudos to TREK for reinventing the wheel somewhat. The BB90 with ceramic bits n bobs in it yields to nothing and every pedal stroke pushes to bike forward. Built in duo-tap not essential but a nice add on. Oddly, looks taller than it is in the image, but feel that is due to the 71.9 degree head-tube. A size 56cm frame which has a HT length of 180mm, only 10mm taller than my SL3 despite being classified as a 'relaxed geo' it is far from that. The genius comes from the race angles at the back of the bike with a 73.3 seat tube angle but the slack HT which makes it ride really well, but descends amazingly with the longer wheelbase and fork-rake just taking the nerves out of really fast descents.
I may fettle a longer stem, at 110mm at the moment based on my bike fit data but feels a little short. Once dialled in will cut the steerer down. Really very pleased with this bike and it is is as they say a keeper. Finally, after much deliberation got the bike I have been searching for in shape, fit, size and performance. Love it. 15.5 lb as you see it or just a smidge under 7kg if you are watching in America.

Yeah that's extremely nice, looks fast too!
God I love the DA look too. Any plans to slam the stem?
Nice work mateGiant TCR Composite 30 -
wow, pretty much my ultimate bike too. How much?0

Cheers all.
Actually a very cost effective build in so much all of the kit stripped from my EVO and put onto this. New brake cables and chainset dictate a small outlay and a bit on the frame to make the shortfall up on the cost of the new frame. The full retail of this bike around £7K put paid nothing like that....0 -

Dunno yet, seeing how it feels over the next couple of weeks, but 180mm ht with 15mm spacer and slack shape means very slamable though commose sense will prevail.0 -

Aye, very nice! I do think about working my way up to a bike like this, one component at a time0 -
Yup
I have the 5.9 and it`s difficult to describe the ride.
I let my mate have a play, and he was gobsmacked.
That colour looks smart as cats as well.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -

Beautiful, the colour is superb0

Just taking my place among the advocates of the colour choice. Its bold works so well with the contrast of the black.
Well done sir.Rock 'n' Roule0 -

Newer Treks do not inspire me at all but this one is bloody fantastic! Love the colour and the contrast against the wheels. Lovely stuff.0

So you got it frameset only? They've got that listed on the Trek site but they don't have that option when you use the builder function.0

Click on the 6.9 complete bike, then custom. Mine was solid team logo option but changed the two colours to what I wanted. I then ordered the frame as such via Muddock who complete the process. You can of course mod everything on project 1 - I went for ceramic, a decent headset, duotap, 5mm offset seat post and no artist text nor a name on my bike.0

Sweet, maybe one day0
