best half decent rim brake wheels/rims/hubs

Hi,
I'm looking for a pair of half decent but not too expensive wheels to replace the ones on an old rigid bike of mine that I've had since I was in my teens.
I'm thinking it's sort of gonna be a sorta retro bike with a few modern bits to make it more reliable and ridable, to be used a bit more frequently.
What can you recommend or where should I go or avoid?

Rosebikes have a pretty decent selection of rim-brake wheels ranging from about £70 a pair up to hundreds. Any of them would be up to the job.0
